History and Homes
When we were contacted by a prominent property consultant to support the development of their building we didn't quite expect to see this gem.
The Lord Deramore's Primary School was founded in 1795 and was based for many years in this stunning grade 2 listed building which is situated close to the University of York. The building was vacated in 2017 as the school relocated to a purpose built building close by and has been stood empty since.
Historically, the school and the building has strong links with the Yarburgh family which inherited the title of Baron Deramore and this is where the school gets its name. It has been serving the community of Heslington for 160 years.
The property consultant picked up a planning consent from 2019 and is developing this further to create two new semi detached homes. Our role has been to support them with proposals to install gas, water, electric and telecoms infrastructure to enable each plot to be serviced independently. Works are ongoing and we hope to see this structure blossom into new homes in the near future.
Its not every day you work on a house that has its own bell tower!
