Up North at the Angel

When a local developer purchased the Angel Hotel, he faced a long battle to achieve planning permission to make it safe and bring it back to life.

The property, one of many failing community pubs, was closed, empty and regularly a target for vandals and arsonists. Once a prominent and proud public house in the heart of Bolton-Upon-Dearne, this building was crying out for a new lease of life as the structure started to decline.

Fast forward three years and the pub has been converted into two spectacular five bedroom properties with the surrounding grounds becoming a small and picturesque housing development. Four semi-detached houses, a detached and a bungalow make up the remainder of this smart looking site known as Angel Court.

For Utility Source, the development represents repeat business from an important customer who has engaged our services exclusively for almost three-years. We have shared numerous successes and have several other projects in the pipeline.

What is our role? We are the utilities coordinator and thus far we have put plans in place to deliver the installation of new gas, water, electric and telecoms infrastructure.

We have engaged contractors, supported the facilitation of design approvals and are well on the way to coordinating site presence and connections. As a critical part of the developers team, we will support each step of the process from mains installation through to the installation of meters.

Did you a working pub, the Angel was used as a location in the recording of the cult British comedy 'Up North'.
