Utility Source was proud to host its 2025 Let’s Talk Property event, bringing together property developers, investors and businesses from across South Yorkshire for an evening of conversation, advice and networking.

Held at Wath Cricket Club, the event created an informal but valuable space for people working across the property sector to connect, share experiences and discuss some of the common challenges that can affect development projects.

Practical conversations for property developers

A key focus of the evening was helping property professionals better understand the role utilities play in successful development projects.

From new connections and disconnections to diversions, upgrades and multi-utility coordination, utilities can often be one of the more complex parts of a development. When not planned properly, they can cause delays, unexpected costs and unnecessary stress.

Throughout the event, Utility Source director Dean Pattison shared practical insight from his experience supporting developers across a wide range of residential and commercial projects.

The discussions covered some of the common issues property developers face, including:

  • Planning utility requirements early enough in a project

  • Understanding timescales for utility works

  • Avoiding costly delays caused by missing information

  • Coordinating utility providers and contractors

  • Knowing when to bring in specialist utility consultancy support

Guest speaker Andrew Tattersfield

Andrew Tattersfield also joined the event to share his experience of the Burlington Club development in Wath-upon-Dearne. As a property developer specialising in commercial to residential conversions and mixed-use multi-unit schemes, Andrew offered valuable insight into the realities of bringing a local conversion project forward.

His talk gave attendees a practical look at the opportunities, challenges and decision-making involved in transforming existing buildings into usable residential and mixed-use spaces, with a particular focus on the importance of planning, problem-solving and working with the right specialists throughout the development process.

The event also gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions, talk through their own experiences and learn from others in the room.

Supporting local business and community venues

The event was hosted at Wath Cricket Club, a local community venue also supported by Utility Source through sponsorship.

For Utility Source, this was an important part of the event. Let’s Talk Property was not only about bringing property professionals together, but also about supporting local venues and creating opportunities for useful business conversations within the community.

Utility Source is committed to supporting grassroots sport, local organisations and community spaces across South Yorkshire. Hosting the event at Wath Cricket Club helped bring that commitment into the heart of the evening.

Building stronger property networks

Let’s Talk Property was designed to be relaxed, useful and practical. Rather than a formal presentation-led event, the evening focused on real conversations between people involved in property, development and construction.

It provided an opportunity for developers, investors and suppliers to meet new contacts, strengthen existing relationships and gain a clearer understanding of how utility planning can support smoother project delivery.

The event also highlighted the value of having the right people involved at the right time. For many property projects, early advice can make a significant difference to cost, timing and overall project success.

Thank you to everyone who attended

Utility Source would like to thank everyone who attended Let’s Talk Property 2025 and contributed to such a positive and useful evening.

The conversations, questions and connections made on the night showed just how valuable it is to bring people together to talk openly about property development, utilities and project challenges.

Following the success of the event, Utility Source looks forward to continuing these conversations and supporting more property developers with practical, expert utility consultancy.
